Viewing Outputs

"Output" refers to a set of properties that define the creation and delivery of output files—that is, files that contain collected usage data. To view all outputs scheduled for generation, click Outputs in the Main Navigation Menu on the left.

The "View Outputs" page offers two options for viewing and managing outputs: View All and View History. (Select a view in the menu bar at the top of the page.)

Viewing all outputs

The View All option is the default. The table below describes the information on this page.

Information

Explanation

Description

Provided by the user during output configuration.

Schedule

The frequency of output file generation: On Demand, Continuously, Hourly, Daily, or Monthly. To generate an "on demand" output, select the output and click the Perform button. To get more information on the schedule (such as the precise time of day for an hourly output), select the output, click the Edit button, and then click Schedule in the Output navigation menu. Click Cancel when you're ready to return to the "View Outputs" page.

Output Type

The output file format: Delimited, Fixed Length, or XML.

Destination

The destination of the output file once it is generated: Local Directory, FTP, or HTTP Post (URL).

Status

Status of the last output generation: New (no output batch generated yet), Running, Complete, or Error. (If you cannot resolve an error and must contact ZyrOSS Support, be prepared to provide any information provided in the ZyrOSS log  files.)

Last Successful Date/Time

Date/time of last successful batch generation.

Note: For more information on the output creation/editing process, see Configuring Outputs: Task Overview.

To manage outputs, use the following controls on the "View Outputs" page.

Button/Control

Function

Create

System navigates to the "Configure an Output -- Format" page, the starting point for creating/editing outputs. See Configuring Outputs: Task Overview.

Copy

Works like the Create option described above, except that the properties of the selected output are used as the initial properties of the new output.

Edit

Edit selected output. System navigates to the "Configure an Output -- Format" page, the starting point for creating/editing outputs. See Configuring Outputs: Task Overview.

Delete

Delete selected output.

Perform

Perform selected output.

Viewing an output history

To view the history of an output, select the output on the "View Outputs" page (Outputs option in Main Navigation Menu) and click View History in the menu bar at the top of the page. Keep in mind that this page displays the generation history for a single output.

The table below explains the information available on this page:

Information

Explanation

Description

Provided by the user during output configuration.

Date

Date of file generation.

Batch #

The sequential number assigned to the output data set. This number is valuable during the auditing in external systems that use output data.

# of Conferences

Number of conferences for which data was collected in this output batch. By reviewing this number, you may be able to detect problems in the output schedule.

Status

Status of the output generation: New (not generated yet), Running, Complete, or Error.

Error Message

Could not open output file -- This means that either the work file, temporary file, or final file for this output could not be created. A likely cause for any of these problems is a full hard drive. Other causes could be an illegal file name, which can be edited. (See Selecting Output Destination.)

Could not access remote destination -- This error message occurs only for outputs with FTP destinations. Either the specified host is off-line or not reachable due to a network path error. To test this problem, ping the host from the machine that the Collector is running on. Another possibility is that an incorrect user ID or password has been specified. (See Selecting Output Destination.)

Could not open XML file -- The process failed while trying to create the internal work file.

Database Error performing output -- To correct database errors, try restarting the server and then regenerating the output.

No new conferences to output -- If you are getting a lot of these messages and you don't need near real-time data, consider decreasing the frequency of output.

For help with persistent errors, contact ZyrOSS Technical Support. Be prepared to provide any information in the Collector log files.

Can Regenerate

A check in this field indicates that the data has not been purged and that the output file can therefore be regenerated. (For more information on data purges, see Purging Data.

Regenerating & retransmitting outputs

On the "View Output History" page (Outputs ==> View History option at top of page) you can regenerate a selected output batch as long as the synthesized data has not been purged. (See Purging Data for information on scheduling data purges.) To regenerate an output, simply select the output and click the Regenerate button. If you have modified the output definition since the last generation, the new definition will be used during file regeneration.

The Retransmit option simply redelivers the selected output batch to the specified destination. (See Selecting Output Destination.) Any changes to the output definition since the generation will not be incorporated.
